How is NAI Fuel® made?

Our product is comprised of two components: 1) an Emulsification Processing Unit machine (“EPU”) and 2) a chemical recipe, which causes diesel to be hydrophilic, as opposed to their naturally hydrophobic state.  The EPU is required to succsuccessfullymix our Coca-Cola-type chemical recipe in order to emulsify oil and water into NAI Fuel®.  Our process for mixing the oil, the water, and the chemicals has been developed over several years, which process we believe to be superior to our competitors.

How does emulsified fuel affect my fuel mileage?

Because NAI Diesel Fuel® burns more completely, mileage for diesel trucks is significantly improved, with overall fuel efficiency increasing up to 15%.

Can biodiesel be emulsified?

NAI Biodiesel® is a very stable emulsion with even greater improvements in fuel efficiency, as well as harmful and greenhouse emissions over B20 and other Biodiesels.

How does the use of emulsified fuel affect the diesel engine and maintenance schedule?

Since our nanotechnology creates a micro-emulsion of water surrounded by fuel particles, there is no effect on the diesel engine from the water, and maintenance schedules will be improved due to more complete fuel combustion.

Are changes required to the diesel engine to use emulsified diesel fuel?

In some cases, the timing may need to be changed; there are no other changes required.

What quantity of emulsified fuel can be processed by the EPU? 

NAI engineers an efficient, redundant system for all installations, comprised of two or more EPUs, appropriately sized and configured for maximum fuel savings.  Our largest Emulsion Processing Unit (EPU) System will generate 22,000 gallons (85,000 liters) of emulsified fuel per hour.  Our smaller systems are made to generate as little as 100 gallons (400 liters) per hour.  Additionally, NAI Fuel®  can be stored  in tanks for up to one year.

What is needed besides the EPU machine?

Our proprietary chemical additives are required to successfully emulsify diesel.

How much floor space does the EPU need?

Relative to the amount of fuel consumed, the footprint of our EPU is considered to be reasonably sized.  Our 100 gallon per hour EPU fits in the back of a pickup truck.

What is the warranty period on the EPU?

The EPU is warrantied for one year, but with so few moving parts, it is expected to last up to 20 Years.

What maintenance needs to be performed on the EPU? 

For NAI Diesel Fuel®, the EPU requires minimal maintenance, if any.  For NAI BioDiesel, some minor maintenance may be required, with no downtime due to our redundant system design.  The cleaning cycle takes less than one hour with our NAI® Cleaner.

How would I assure an uninterrupted supply of fuel?

For maximum up time, NAI EPUs are sold with at least two EPUs per system, appropriately sized for economical operations.  Customers may desire to employ storage tanks to have an adequate reserve supply of fuel.

Are replacement parts readily available?

The few replaceable parts are carefully chosen by NAI to meet rigorous operating standards and the needs of the EPU.  Replacement parts are available from NAI.

How long does the fuel stay emulsified?

NAI Diesel and BioDiesel Fuel® remain a stable emulsified fuel for over one year.

How long would I have to wait for delivery?

Thirty days is the normal delivery time for smaller applications.  Large installations requiring greater capacity may require up to six months.

How is the combustion of fuel improved and emissions reduced?

As NAI Diesel and BioDiesel Fuel® burns, the water droplets in the fuel suddenly rise in temperature, expanding and atomizing the surrounding oil into diffuse minute particles.  As a result, the combustible surface area of the oil particles and air increases considerably, which leads to more complete, more efficient, and more powerful fuel combustion.

How would I clean-up an accidental spill of emulsified fuel?

Normal hazmat procedures for diesel fuel should be followed.

What is the reduction in NOx?

The reduction in NOx can range from 30% to over 50% for NAI Fuel®.

What is the reduction in particulate matter, PM(10)?

There is a large reduction in particulate matter because a good portion of the fuel is being replaced by water in the emulsification process; hence, there is less carbon being burned.  Our experience has shown that the NOx reduction is about 1% for every 1% of water added.

What other benefits are derived from using NAI Fuel®?

Experience has shown that the engine parts are cleaner: injectors, cylinders, exhaust valves, turbochargers, etc.  Cleaner engine components translate to better efficiency, peak efficiency and extended time interval between overhauls, which means lower maintenance costs in terms of fewer spare parts and less labor.

Will the age of the engine affect NAI Fuel® performance and savings?

The NAI emulsified fuel works with both old and new engines. This benefit is derived from the secondary atomization caused by burning of emulsified fuel and does not depend on the age of the engine. Consequently, the NAI® emulsified fuel will provide fuel savings to both new and old engines.
